LOS CABOS
I joke and call Cabo "South L.A." - and there's some truth in that. Dollars are the currency of choice. California locals make up a lot of the visitor population. But there are pockets of Mexican joy and spirit, especially in the artist town of San Jose del Cabo. It's also just stunningly beautiful - brilliant blue water and seriously gorgeous resorts and food. This is barefoot sophistication at its easiest - easy to get to, easy to be, easy to do nothing. I LOVE Cabo. Plus, it is so easy to get around by car here. You don't need a GPS - there is essentially one main road that links San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas and in the middle are most of the resorts on the water.
